[SAMPLE] Listing did not match the unit
The photos advertised were of a different, renovated unit on another floor. What I actually viewed had water damage in the bathroom ceiling that I was told would be repaired before move-in. It was not. Get everything in writing before signing.

[SAMPLE] Would not rent here again
Persistent pest problem in the building that management treated as individual units' responsibility rather than a building-wide issue. Neighbours reported the same thing. Aside from that the unit was reasonable, but that was enough for me to leave at the end of the term.

The unit itself is decent and reasonably priced for the location. Management is the weak point — emails go unanswered for a week or two and you have to follow up more than you should. When they do send someone the work is done properly.

Reported the same heating problem four times across one winter and used a space heater for most of it. Calls go to voicemail and emails get a holding reply and nothing after. The building itself could be fine if anyone maintained it.

The apartment advertised on a marketplace listing at this address was not actually available. I was asked to e-transfer a holding deposit before viewing, by someone who would only communicate over text and could not meet in person. The building manager confirmed there was no vacancy. I did not send money. Posting so the next person checks first.

Left the place cleaner than I found it, with photos and a signed condition inspection. Still had most of the deposit withheld for vague damages. Took it to the Residential Tenancy Branch and got it back, but it took months and I should not have had to.
